FEEDBACK
Week 6
Specific Feedback: Make sure the text columns fit with the required layout of two pages.
General Feedback: Use serifs and sans serifs alternatively for heading and text.
Week 7
Specific Feedback: Public Holiday
General Feedback: Public Holiday
REFLECTIONS
Experience
After finishing Task 1: Exercises, Task 2 was easier to do as I already had the knowledge from Task 1. Although I had better knowledge, it wasn't easy as we have restrictions to work around such as no images allowed to fill in the blank spaces in our layout.
Observations
One thing that was challenging was creating an expression for the headline. Unlike Task 1 where we can choose a select few of words suitable to work with, we are given limited options and we got to make something out of it.
Findings
I looked through old books and magazines I own to receive inspiration for designing my layout. Through that, I found various ways each page was designed with that goes away from the basics of two columns of body text for each page.

Ambiguity is usually referred to as a lack of clarity or specific meaning, something that shouldn't be in a design. But I learned that ambiguity can have multiple meanings expressed with the same design. Although one must be careful in using ambiguity as the design be understood well or it can fail to produce the desired effect.

I learned that grids are a helpful guideline to work with in any design. It helps create the basic foundation and help with providing consistency and accuracy in our design. Some people may think of grids as restrictive, but through this page, I learned that using the right kind of grids with proper edits aims to achieve the desired result with utmost efficiency.

This page talks about scale and the importance of its usage in design. An object can be scaled to be larger or smaller than it's original size to express each a different meaning. The manipulation of scale would aim to achieve the desired results in design work. Scale can be applied to anything, in typography, that can be the size of the headline in contrast with the body text.
